David:

I recall reading somewhere a quote from Pattabhi-Jois, stating that certain postures of the primary series should be held without Mula Bandha. I may even have read it in 'Yoga Mala' but can't find it for looking.

Do you recall which postures they are?
Thanks & Regards,

Steve. ???

Dear Steve,
If you find the quote, please email it to me.  I was taught that one should do mulabandha constantly while practicing asanas and pranayama.
Aloha,
David

I was just reading this morning in John Scott's book "Ashtanga Yoga" that Kukutasana is the only posture during which one does NOT contract Mula Bhanda.  Surprising to me as it seems that this particular posture seems to automatically contract mula bhanda - but there it was, in black and white.

Great book though, with exquisite ilustrations.
