adding poses

Sometime when it comes to poses in the primary series, I don't feel like they standing poses have sufficiently opened my hips. Are there any poses you would recommend adding to the standing sequence or beginning of primary series that would help to further open my hips to be able to feel safe in certain postures?

I have heard for instance, that Danny Paradise has his students add in a modified Virabhadrasana III in workshops to further open the hips.
